Here's who I think are the top females in rock and metal. Please post your thoughts.
Amy Lee(Evanescence). Cristina Scabbia(Lacuna Coil)
Hayley Williams(Paramore) Otep(band with same name)
Tarjia Turonen(Nightwish) Lacey Mosley(Flyleaf)
All of the members of Kittie(Both past and present) Sharen Den Adel(Withintemptation)
Angela Gossow(Archenemy) Kandis Kucsulain(Walls of Jericho)

Agree with arch enemy, amy lee,. I don't like the way flyleaf's singer sings at all. I'd swap her with fireflight's singer.

Post 3 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Tuesday, 30-Jun-2009 14:44:45

I still love them both. Fireflights singer's awesome to

Post 4 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Tuesday, 30-Jun-2009 16:50:24

Yeah my favorites are definately Kittie and Otep. Candice of walls of jericho is just fucking bad ass I will probably get some slack for this one but i do like some of avril's stuff. And lauren Harris (dauther of iron maiden's steve harris) seems promising along with a nother female metal female that goes by the name Lennon, who is currently in a band that goes by the name Devil's Gift.

Post 5 by Corpse-Grinder (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 30-Jun-2009 17:26:59

I would have to disagree with Amy Lee being a top rock/metal singer since she sometimes loses her voice live. I believe that Sarah Jesebel from Angtoria is far better than her. Perfect singer who can adjust her voice according to the mood of the songs she sings.

Post 6 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Wednesday, 01-Jul-2009 14:59:28

bla! Lol I agree with Sarah but still love Amy! And I also like Avril's stuff.

Post 7 by Nick6489 (11 years a Zoner) on Wednesday, 01-Jul-2009 17:12:10

No way on the Amy. I'd rather have Carly Smithson in that slot, vocalist of new band "We are the Fallen".

Post 8 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Wednesday, 01-Jul-2009 21:42:06

Same here, I do like a some of avirl's stuff, mainly Damn Cold Night. I'll check some of these other bands out.

Post 9 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Wednesday, 01-Jul-2009 21:45:38

I don't really like Otep that much. I agree with pretty much all the other posts on here though, and I do like Lacey Mosley, even if she does sound a bit like Avril. She can scream though. I'll have to check out We Are The Fallen, I never heard of them before.

Post 10 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Wednesday, 01-Jul-2009 21:46:24

She can scream? She sounds kinda I don't know, squeaky to me.

Post 11 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Wednesday, 01-Jul-2009 21:47:34

Yeah she can, have you ever heard I'm So Sick? Or are you saying her screaming sounded squeaky?

Post 12 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Wednesday, 01-Jul-2009 21:50:09

No, he singing sounds squeaky. I think I've heard that on itunes and that's what turned me off towards her.

Post 13 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Wednesday, 01-Jul-2009 21:56:12

I have a friend who compared her screaming to an elephant having an orgasm once...still don't know how he knows what that sounds like, but it was still funny.

Post 14 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Thursday, 02-Jul-2009 14:25:21

Yeah you know I am so sick by flyleaf was so misleading cuz i got the cd and that was the heaviest song and the only one in which she screamed lol. I heard her voice is pretty good live so check out some of their live stuff. I have heard what everyone said about Amy of evanescense fortunately for me the few live performances i saw she brought it live. We are the fallen .. you mean ben's attempt at EvanEscense Part 2? lol

Post 15 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Thursday, 02-Jul-2009 15:16:28

I'm still checking them out and love them as far as evanescence goes. Also withintemptation is awesome!

Post 16 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Thursday, 02-Jul-2009 15:49:35

We Are The Fallen only has one song out now, but its really good.

Post 17 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 03-Jul-2009 10:25:17

you know i downloaded that song the other day and i never listedned to it .. i should go do that now.

Post 18 by wildebrew (We promised the world we'd tame it, what were we hoping for?) on Friday, 03-Jul-2009 11:13:25

Guys, guys, I am disappointed to still not see the woman who put Rage.. to shame, Skin from Skunk Anansie. Check out their "Paranoid and Sunburnt" album, the later two are slightly more poppy but "Political" from Stoosh, their second, is just absolutely awesome. That woman has some stage presence, saw the band live 3 times and she rocked the house super bad. Amy sounds awfully off key to me live and I've never liked Evanessence, apart from that Bring me Back to Life song, which was just good, and one or two more tracks of that album.
On one of the first "Paradise Lost" albums there was an opera singer on some of the tracks (same album that had the Eternal on it) and it was just haunting, I think the last track of the albumis really awesome, death metal and opera blends amazingly well.
There's a band called Gossip, but they're probably not quite hardcore enough to belong on this board, but their singer is really good, sort of like Dolly Parton, but with some balls, little screaming but tons of attitude.
Anyone remember that German band Guano Apes, they had some awesome songs and their singer was a German who could sing and scream, sort of like Amy wishes she could do, "Lord of the Boards" is a song every rock fan should have on their ipod, check it out guys if you're looking for something new.
Nothing more to add right now but might come back to this later.

Post 19 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Friday, 03-Jul-2009 12:48:05

Sorry, gotta do this.
Bring me to life.
not
bring me back to life.
Had to do that.

Post 20 by Corpse-Grinder (Veteran Zoner) on Friday, 03-Jul-2009 13:34:49

Totally agree with Wilderbrew on Amy Lee. Very off key in live performences. Hse depends alot on Studio mixing.

Post 21 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Friday, 03-Jul-2009 19:06:55

She was sooooo nooooooot off key when I saw her! Also Dacey Rame from Still Breathing and Hollywood Burning belongs up here!
And, the vocalist from The Agonist.

Post 22 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 04-Jul-2009 13:39:05

Ah Skunk Anaci .. how could i have forgotten about that one. That reminds me of a storey .. I saw them when they opened for SevenDust at a tiny "hole in the wall" night club in new jersey called Birch Hill. We were upfront against the baricades and the stage was literally on the other side of the baricade. As they were about to take the stage i turned and asked my cusin who was going on first, and when she told me i said ah cool "that girl has an amazing voice", to which my cusin responded .. "turn around she is right in front of you". I turned around to see what was the outline of her less than a foot away right infront of me smiling back at me ... oh and later on in ther set when she decided to go crowd surfing .. guess who she used to brace her self as she climed up on the baricade to jump into the crowd...

Post 23 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Sunday, 05-Jul-2009 14:50:55

Aw! that's awesome! *Grins. I'll share one to! lol!
I was seeing a local band called by blood and fire, there similar to otep only Christian.
I was at the front and moshing when I hit the lead singer Izzabele in the face! She didn't even flinch. lol.

Post 24 by ILoveS33 (my ISP would be out of business if it wasn't for this haven I live at) on Saturday, 18-Jul-2009 0:30:40

Definitely right on with Christina! Like some of the others too, Amy is pretty good.

Post 25 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Tuesday, 11-Aug-2009 5:15:16

Hell yah! Cristina Scabbia's fucking amazing! So is Tarjia from Nightwish. Hmm. Almost forgot about Morgan Lander from Kittie!

Post 26 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Tuesday, 11-Aug-2009 10:15:53

So now we have sick puppies, and kittie. Any other animal band names?

Post 27 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Tuesday, 11-Aug-2009 18:46:20

There's one but I don't like them as much. Wolf mother. lol. Just not my style i guess.

Post 28 by Nick6489 (11 years a Zoner) on Wednesday, 12-Aug-2009 13:33:39

And yet noone mentions my personal favorite. 24 year old Simone Simons. Epica FTW! She is the perfect vocalist for the Genre, and she's only 24, so she could get scarily better.

Post 29 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Wednesday, 12-Aug-2009 14:51:55

She is really good. I've gotten in to them recently. hmm. Also Korey Cooper and Jen Ledger from Skillet!

Post 30 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Thursday, 13-Aug-2009 13:30:36

yeah epica's cover of Fear Factory's Replica is fucking sick. And if morgan lander is any proof of getting better with age, i look forward to what simmone simmon will be doing down the road.

Post 31 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Thursday, 13-Aug-2009 16:50:29

Dam right! smiles! A couple of local chicks I'd like to mention. Deanna Crane from Kill devil theory, and Izzabele from by blood and fire. man!

Post 32 by Deadnight Warrior (Zone BBS Addict) on Wednesday, 19-Aug-2009 4:52:00

I think Christina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil should be in that list.

Post 33 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Thursday, 20-Aug-2009 19:41:16

I thought she already was, but if not she is!

Post 34 by monkeypusher69 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Wednesday, 02-Sep-2009 13:43:09

This one i believe slipped under the radar, but i just reintroduced to them as they are touring with kittie this fall. Check out Strait line stich everyone .. and In This Moment if i haven't mentioned them before as well. Both killer female vocalist who can sing and scream.

Post 35 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Wednesday, 02-Sep-2009 22:14:46

Both bands are awesome! I love them! mmm!

Post 36 by Tarja (too buisy for life) on Thursday, 29-Oct-2009 16:22:18

and what a shock Devin, your first poast here mentions me. Hey all you random people I'll leave you to wonder who I am. Don't be confused by the user name.

Post 37 by Tarja (too buisy for life) on Thursday, 29-Oct-2009 16:34:19

I must say that Nightwish was once, but they've kind of fallen a bit. I don't dislike Anette (I feel for her ug the things they made her say.) I do think that although Tuomas is amazing at writing songs, he has a few issues, but don't we all.

I personally like Epica quite a lot. Simone is quite good considering she started so young. I love their new album.

Amy Lee, (please get some voice training,) on the other hand isn't quite what i'd call a wonderful singer. This doesn't mean I don't like her, just that she has practically lost her chance to really become a good singer. She really does kill her voice.

I'd also like to bring up the once together band After Forever. Floor is a really diverse singer. She can pretty much sing whatever she wants. I have just heard that she has joined another band with a few other former members of After Forever.

Post 38 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Friday, 30-Oct-2009 6:39:50

I took a listen to eppica, and they really didn't catch my attention.

Post 39 by Tarja (too buisy for life) on Friday, 30-Oct-2009 17:10:20

awe poor you

Post 40 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Friday, 30-Oct-2009 19:21:14

Lol I know! Hmm. this should be interesting. If you hear anymore about flor let me know.

Post 41 by Tarja (too buisy for life) on Saturday, 31-Oct-2009 16:11:32

ouch who spelled her name wrong? um Devin it's F L O O R, just be glad she won=n't see that.

Post 42 by metal angel (Help me, I'm stuck to my chair!) on Sunday, 01-Nov-2009 15:11:10

Trust me, I am. lol. I guess I need to look more at spellings of people's names? lol.

Post 43 by Tarja (too buisy for life) on Sunday, 01-Nov-2009 18:45:35

um yeah you do

Post 44 by GothicGirl (Newborn Zoner) on Monday, 02-Nov-2009 10:58:28

Hey, how about:
Epica
Tristania
Within temptation (although their earlier albums were better with Sharon's vocals)
Nightwish
Lunatica
After forever
Eloxorien
Delain
and Sirenia

Post 45 by Tarja (too buisy for life) on Monday, 02-Nov-2009 18:31:57

um yeah Epica!!!!!!!!!!

Post 46 by MelodicFate (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 02-Nov-2009 18:38:10

Delain is awesome, as is Epica. Love Within Temptation and Nightwish, although Within Temptation's new acoustic album isn't that great, and I don't care for Nightwish without Tarja. After Forever is good, minus the screaming. I like Lunatica and Sirenia as well, although they're nothing compared to the bands above. I didn't care for Tristainia too much, but maybe I just haven't heard the right songs. I've never heard of Eloxorien however.

Post 47 by GothicGirl (Newborn Zoner) on Tuesday, 03-Nov-2009 9:29:53

Yeah Lunatica doesn't measure up to Epica and Within temptation, although their new song Utopia? isn't good at all. Nightwish use to be awesome, but now they have Annette Olson and her voice is kind of like any other pop artist's.

Post 48 by Tarja (too buisy for life) on Friday, 06-Nov-2009 17:15:53

yeah Epica is really awesome.
